The Perfect Job: Myth or Fact?

The event will conclude with a closing address by Ms Rachel Seetoh, one of the pioneer career consultant in the Career & Attachment Office (CAO) for NTU. Rachel has 30 years of work experience spanning across two main industries, Banking & Finance and Education. As a Singaporean, she has lived and worked in China for 17 years, and is currently back in NTU as a Global Career Development Facilitator. She has many credits under her belt, including being a freelance trainee Life Coach working on a professional accreditation with the International Coach Federation. 

Some of her previous vocations include being the Career Counsellor with NUS Business School Career Services, the Deputy Regional Head of Human Resource of Northern China Region & Head of Human Resource Department of Beijing Branch with a Hong Kong based Bank in Beijing, China, a Senior Marketing Executive at an International Baccalaureate World School in Beijing, China, theDirector and Teacher of an International Pre-school in Guangzhou, China (a Non-Profit Organisation) and other various roles in Back/Middle/Front Office of International Private & Investment banks (Local and Foreign) in Singapore.

The Clinical and Forensic Psychology Service (CFPS), formerly known as the Psychological Services Unit, resides within the Rehabilitation and Protection Group in the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF). Our department, a clinical-forensic centre, provides comprehensive psychological services to children, young persons and families referred by the division. Join us in this sharing to find out more about the application of clinical and forensic psychology within a family and child welfare setting.

Mr Edgar Tham, Sport and Performance Psychologist at SportPsych Consulting

 

Edgar Tham is Singapore's very first sport & performance psychologist. He has personally trained numerous Olympic and World Champions over the past 21 years as an applied practitioner. He has also expanded his coaching / consulting work to areas outside of sport (e.g., business, sales/marketing, military, performing arts, academics), and will be sharing his experiences with those who wish to prepare themselves to become sport & performance psychologists in Singapore. Desiree is on her way to obtaining a PhD from Nanyang Business School after graduating in 2009 as part of the pioneer batch of NTU Psychology students and a research stint in A Star. She will be sharing about her postgraduate life and working experience and hopes to help enlighten the paths of her juniors one way or the other.

The MA programme in Counselling and Guidance is offered by the Psychological Studies Academic Group at the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University. It is fully certified by the Singapore Association for Counselling as a training programme for Registered Counsellors. To enhance its professional standing, its curriculum is based on the standards of CACREP (Council for the Accreditation of Counselling and other Related Educational Programmes) in the USA. The talk on the Master of Arts in Applied Psychology (MAAP) is intended for undergraduates who are interested in pursuing graduate studies to equip them to become psychology practitioners.
